Jesimen Tarisa Chipika (Dr) was appointed to the ZWRCN Board in July 2010. She is a senior development consultant and a gender and economics expert. She has a distinguished career working as a development economist with the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Zimbabwe, Government of Zimbabwe, Private Sector, Civil Society, regional UN entities in Africa, and the SADC Secretariat, in different capacities including Programme Manager, Senior Economic Development Consultant and Economic Advisor. She previously worked at the University of Zimbabwe for 15 years, lecturing in research methods, statistics, econometrics, macro-and micro economics, social and agricultural economics. She subsequently worked at the ILO and UNDP. She has completed important works, including a report commissioned by UNECA-SA entitled “Economic Growth, Inequality, and Poverty in Southern Africa: Issues and Policy Options”, a Government of Zimbabwe/UNICEF Report (the first such report for Zimbabwe), entitled, “Child Poverty in Zimbabwe: Deprivations and Inequalities in Child Well-Being, 2014”, and a UN Women report entitled “A Baseline Situation Analysis of Women in Zimbabwe, 2012 Report”. She enjoys membership in various professional societies and activities in civic, public or international affairs, including the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Monetary Policy Committee.
