Zimbabwe Women’s Resource Centre and Network (ZWRCN) with financial assistance from the Bread for the World- Protestant Development Service of Germany has been implementing a 3-year project (October 2014 – September 2017) that has been focusing on advancing rural women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights through increasing their access to reproductive health services in two districts of Mutoko and Shurugwi. To date 911 women have benefited from the project with most of them making an effort to get screened for cervical cancer at their nearest health centres.

The Three Year Gender and Health Budgets Project falls within the ZWCRN Gender, Economic Policies and Public Finance Programme (GEPPF). It seeks to address women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) rights in Zimbabwe through advocacy research aimed at promoting equitable allocation of national resources that will address women’s practical and strategic needs. This project also aims to improve women’s influence on SRH legislations policy and spending decisions at all levels. It will create opportunities and spaces for people to engage in policy making processes while strengthening the capacity of marginalized rural women and other civil society organizations including women’s groups, to better negotiate for their demands as far as health issues are concerned.
