ZWRCN has enjoyed a formal partnership with the Parliament of Zimbabwe since 2011. The initial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was for a 4 year period, ending 2014. On 19 May, 2015 this MOU was renewed, with the Hon. Speaker of Parliament, noting the contribution that ZWRCN has made in building the capacity of members of parliament (MPs) to appreciate and apply gender equality concepts in their oversight role, particularly their budget oversight role. ZWRCN has trained Parliamentary Portfolio Committees as well as women MPs under the auspices of the Zimbabwe Women Parliamentary Caucus. In addition the main gender mainstreaming tool that Parliament is currently using, the gender mainstreaming manual, was jointly produced by ZWRCN and Parliament. The Board Chairperson of ZWRCN, Dr Thokozile Chitepo, thanked Parliament for its continued confidence in the organisation’s support, and pledged to continue building the capacity of the institution at the policy level, administration, and the elected officials.
