16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Vioelence - Orange The World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!

Gender based violence is a disease that we all should strive to find a cure for. The cure is in our hearts, hands and voices. The moment you condone any form of violence it means you are giving this disease room for growth. This year as COVID-19 led to the upsurge in the number of cases of gender based across the world including our own mother land Zimbabwe, let us all "Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!"

This means that there is no small effort in responding to gender based violence. The more we talk about it the more we raise awareness about it. Let us push for a world where we all live amicably and not resort to violence to settle our differences. Women and girls have always been at a greater disadvantage as statistics continue to show larger numbers of women and girls who suffer violence at the hands of their male counterparts.

Gender based violence in nothing but a disease that is eating up communities and hence the need to rise up and orange the world during these 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. If you are suffering or witnessing any form of gender based violence, the cure is there, break the silence and report any form of abuse. The more survivors do not speak out the more the disease grows in our society. To all men, let’s be our sisters’ keepers not batterers.

As the Zimbabwe Women’s Resource Centre and Network, we continue to be MAD for Women, and say no to gender based violence. Let’s amplify the voices of survivors and make this world a better place.

During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, as ZWRCN we say to you:

Cry out loud and be heard!

Ridza Mhere Ubatsirwe!

Let’s break the silence and help end gender based violence!
